NFL Mock Draft Competition

It’s time for the NFL draft once again.  The draft is one of the most exciting weekends in all of the football season, even though it’s months away from any game. We get to sit back, play armchair GM and ridicule actual GMs and scouts for their obvious foolishness. Drafts are always very unpredictable, with surprises happening at every turn, but it seems like this is even more likely this year. Most years, the top 3 – 5 picks are almost locked in as soon as the draft order is set.  6 of the last 7 NFL drafts have also featured teams picking a quarterback first overall, but this year appears to be different.  All fall, it appeared that Kayvon Thibodeaux was the lock for the first overall pick.  Aidan Hutchinson took over that spot in the spring time and now it appears that Travon Walker will be the first player off the board this year. If the first overall pick is this volatile, the rest of the round is next to impossible to predict.

Here at Go for Two, we like to have a little friendly competition to predict the pick for the entire first round for the first round picks. We’ve done this the past few years before Go for Two was even a twinkle in any of our eyes. The rules that we play with are pretty simple: 1 point if you pick a player in the right spot, 1 point if you pick a player to the right team, and 5 points if you predict a  correct trade. For example, if Derek correctly predicts the Saints trade up to number 12 overall to draft Chris Olave, 7 points would be awarded.  If Jonathan predicts the New York Jets to take Sauce Gardner 4th overall, but he is taken by that same team 10th overall, 1 point would be awarded.  After the draft, we’ll update you on how we did, as we clearly do not agree on every pick.
