Week 5 Starts and Sits

Start Em:

Ryan- Breece Hall, RB(NYJ)

Ever since his extremely efficient performance in Week 1, Breece Hall has largely been a no show in fantasy lineups. In short, however,I am not hitting the panic button yet. At some point, the Jets have to realize that Dalvin is Cooked and that they are essentially donating a down every time they give him the ball. As Hall progressively ramps up his recovery from a devastating knee injury, you would think the Jets will make more of an effort to get the ball in his hands. Perhaps this Sunday will be the start of an increased workload. Regardless of whether that happens, he is set up very nicely against a Broncos defense that has surprisingly looked atrocious all year. Even in a timeshare, Hall has considerable splash play upside, and if the first four weeks are any indication, the skill position players on the Jets also have increased touchdown upside. Fire up Hall as an upside play this week- you drafted him highly for a reason.

Jonathan- Matt Breida (NYG)

Saquon Barkley is not expected to play in this Week 5 road matchup with the Miami Dolphins, a game in which the Giants are heavy underdogs.  Miami is expected to jump out to a lead early in the contest, which would normally be bad for fantasy production for running backs.  I think the contrary for Breida, who had 5 receptions for 48 reception yards in the Giants lob-sided loss to the Seahawks last week.  I expect Daniel Jones to be pressured early and often, which will lead to quick dump-offs to his running back.  Matt Breida has been the starting running back since week 3 when Saquon went down with his ankle injury, and has posted double-digit fantasy points in that time frame (PPR format).  I don’t expect the Giants to score alot of points in this contest, but I do expect Breida to produce as a high floor option this week.

Sit Em:

Ryan- Miles Sanders, RB (CAR)

Sanders has been just OK to start his Panthers tenure. While he practiced in full on Friday and does not officially carry an injury designation, it is clear that he is operating at less than 100 percent with a nagging groin injury. Chuba Hubbard has been plenty involved thus far, and it was a near 50/50 split in Week 4, likely thanks in large part to the aforementioned nagging injury. When you also factor in that a negative game script is likely this week as heavy road underdogs against a surprisingly stingy Lions defense, the stars aren’t exactly aligning for Sanders to have a big day. Treat him as touchdown-or-bust RB3 this week.

Derek- All Denver Broncos

There is a favoured team at home this week, so there has to be some fantasy value on that team right? Not so fast. Javonte Williams is on track to play, but might not be 100%, so I wouldn’t want to start him. He also will vulture any value that Perine or McLaughlin might have had. As for the pass catching options, I think that one will end up having a decent game, but I have no clue who it will be. Mims has been electric, but if he doesn’t get a touchdown, he’s useless. Sutton has been having a good year, but is down for touchdown regression. I wouldn’t bank on his luck continuing. Jeudy is the best receiver on the team, but is likely to be covered by Sauce Gardner all week, which is a recipe for disaster. All in all, someone will be decent this week, but all of their floors are very low, so if you have pivot options, take them.

Go for Two Option-  Rashee Rice , WR (KC)

Trying to pinpoint which Chiefs receiver to play in the post-Tyreek era has induced a lot of headaches, as no one has truly stepped up at that particular position. For both today and the rest of the season, however, Rice is emerging as a potential player to bet on. The 2nd round rookie has flashed some upside with the chances he has given, and should be given every opportunity to try and earn an every-down role in this offense. In what figures to be a very high scoring game in Minneapolis this weekend, multiple skill position players figure to post fantasy-relevant stat lines. Rice can be fired up as a high-upside play in this spot.
